First Great Western Rail Customers are first to benefit.
Veolia Transport, one of the world’s largest transport providers has joined forces with OYBike, a fast-growing bike rental company, to provide an effective and reliable public transport option for local authorities, businesses, universities and hospitals.
And the partnership has now delivered its first key contract. Together with First Great Western (FGW), rail customers are now [1st May] able to get on their bike on arrival at Reading station and free-wheel to work, shopping centres or out-of-town business parks.
Joining forces with First Great Western has been the first example of partnership in practice for OYBike and Veolia. Combining Veolia’s transport experience, together with OYBike’s cycle hire technology, has delivered unique transport alternatives for the people of Reading. Veolia and OYBike are now in discussions with FGW to look at options for London’s Paddington Station.
Commenting on the FGW launch, Managing Director of OYBike Bernie Hanning said, “The launch of the scheme at Reading Station is a great vote of confidence in OYBike. Veolia’s vast experience and resources means we can offer even more cities and businesses an attractive and innovative transport solution that meets today’s environmental and health needs. Our scheme with First Great Western is, we hope, the first of many schemes for customers in major cities”
David Josephson for Veolia Transport said “The introduction of OYBike to Reading underlines Veolia Transport’s commitment to bring a variety of mobility solutions to towns and cities. Rental bike systems are a great way to offer additional quality, reliable and sustainable transport choices to local authorities and businesses who want to offer healthy and pleasurable transport options.
