Quarter of a Million Rentals

OYBike’s French Scheme, Velobleu, Reaches ¼ Million Milestone

Eight months after launching, over 250,000 journeys have been made

Following the launch of Velobleu, an OYBike technology driven bike scheme in Nice, France in July 2009, OYBike is delighted to announce that more than 250,000 journeys have now been made on Velobleu bikes – a milestone achievement for the scheme.

The Nice scheme is currently 1200 bikes across 175 stations, under a 15-year contract that will eventually deliver a total capacity of 1,750 bikes in the scheme.  OYBike provides the technology for the scheme on behalf of its partner, Veolia Transport, one of the world’s largest transport providers, who operate the system.

Remarking on the news, OYBike Managing Director Bernie Hanning said, “2009 was a busy year, launching in Nice, Vannes and most recently Cardiff.  Encouraging users to try a new scheme is always a challenge and we are delighted that so many people in Nice have been inspired to regularly use the system.  We are hopeful that the trend will continue”.
