SKY News (29th July)
SKY News had covered the official launch of the London scheme and was looking to add a wider national flavour. Feroze Rub was interviewed live for the 6 pm news, as a leading expert with experience of running one of the UK’s largest existing schemes. The interview show-cased the Cardiff scheme alongside the London scheme.
Wall Street Journal (Europe)
The Wall Street Journal contacted OYBike press office to find out more about the realities of running a scheme. Alongside major schemes in Paris and soon-to-launch London, the WSJ were keen to understand how a scheme was currently working in the UK.
Evening Standard (2 June 2010)
London’s evening paper featured “the inventor of London’s first hire bike” Bernie Hanning in an article on the then-proposed London scheme. Drawing comparisons and experience of the Cardiff scheme, the article suggested the London scheme needs to be ready to meet the demand.
The Guardian (November 2009/June 2010)
Reporter James Randerson took a trip to Cardiff to try the scheme for himself as part of the Guardian’s “Green Living” section. Subsequent podcast for the paper. Later the Guardian followed up the London launch by pointing out the schemes in Cardiff and Reading were “early adopters”.

BBC Radio Wales (June)
Having covered the launch of OYBike the previous September, BBC Radio Wales reviewed sustainable transport options in the Welsh capital during Greek Transport Week in June. OYBike was highlighted by a local councillor as a sustainable option right in the heart of the city.
Reading Post (August 2010)
The Post added a local flavour to the London launch when they show-cased the small OYBike scheme in Reading. Despite only running between the railway station and local business park, the Post quoted the lead councillor for transport who stated he would like to see an increased scheme in Reading.
WalesOnline (March 2010)
Following the launch of OYBike in September, where this local media marked the launch of the Cardiff OYBike scheme as a “Paris-styled smart bike system”, the South Wales Echo went on to feature OYBike’s two regular users who had agreed to support and promote OYBike publicly. (Local radio station also picked up the story)
