OYBike introduces new bike locations at university campuses in Cardiff
Students in Cardiff now have easier access to cheap and flexible transport, making the link between the town and the university much easier.
Following the introduction of OYBike bike hire in Cardiff city centre as part of Cardiff’s Sustainable Travel City project, new locations have been added at UWIC’s Llandaff Campus and residential campuses Evelian Court and Plas Gwyn. Local students are not only delighted with the improved access between campuses and the city centre, but also the money savings on petrol, parking and buses.
OYBike demonstrated the bikes at the University Fresher’s Fayre in September to new and existing Cardiff students. Discounted registration fees and the opportunity to enter into a prize draw competition to win an Apple iPad generated a new base of keen OYBike users. Since September, over 30 new students have joined OYBike.
The iPad that was the apple of many new students’ eyes was won by Yasser Moshen from Plas Gwyn campus. “Well done to Yasser who was very surprised to hear he’d won”, said OYBike’s Adam Garrett. “He’s delighted and I showed him the OYBike app he can download so he can find rental stations and available bikes quickly and easily”.
OYBike hope the Cardiff scheme will continue to grow and are keen to work with other colleagues and businesses who might be interested to have a rental station close by.
